If presented with a critically ill patient, the urgent care veterinarian will appropriately stabilize the patient, communicate with the client, and coordinate care with the ER/ICU departments to provide appropriate patient care. The urgent care veterinarian will receive cases alongside the emergency veterinarian(s) and provide excellent service to the clients, patients, and referring doctors.

The urgent care veterinarian will efficiently handle minor emergencies and treat outpatient cases, such as lameness, vomiting/diarrhea, urinary tract infections, non-obstructive FLUTD patients, minor wounds, ear infections, simple eye issues, skin issues, coughing, etc. Urgent Care veterinarians at Nashville Veterinary Specialists will provide care to non-critically ill cases that are presented to the hospital.
